
Brief Description
Waldorf Kakuma Project (WKP) is an independent not-for-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) in Kenya.

WKP believes that children can be empowered through education to achieve their dreams despite the various life circumstances that they undergo. WKP has been operating in Kakuma Refugee Camp since January 2012, and in other parts of Kenya delivering interventions in the areas of Child Protection, emergency education, psychosocial support as well as Education. WKP seeks to establish a credible reputation by engaging, advising, advocating and supporting healthy development and recovery of children affected by conflict and other challenges of life which affect their education.
Waldorf aims at achieving its objectives by:
- Providing psychosocial support through play and art therapy
- Providing a conducive environment for formal and informal education
- Promoting child safety and well-being through structure and Waldorf Pedagogy.
- Conducting trainings and workshops
- Collaboration with stakeholders
Founded in the year 2012; WKP Kenya was registered in March 2015 with the NGOs Coordination Board. Its registration number is OP.218/051/14-0452/998.
It has three specialty areas, that is, education, child protection and psychosocial support.
The head office of the organization is in Karen, Nairobi with a field office in Kakuma town, Turkana West sub-county, Turkana County.
Management
WKP is managed by a Board of Directors which is comprised of seven (7) members. The members are drawn from various backgrounds such as development, humanitarian, government and private sectors with expertise in project management, resource mobilization, finance strategic planning, legal and governance.
